Colonial Secretary's Office
to hold the position of and to act as the Chief Clerk in the clerical lower establishment of that office.
The Secretary of State is anxious to meet the wishes of the Colonial Government in this matter, and, subject to their Lordships' concurrence, has selected for the appointment, Mr. Matthew T. Drayson, a Higher Grade Clerk of the Second Division of the Civil Service.
Mr. John ... is not opposed to this; it is proposed to pay Mr. Drayson's salary of £500 rising by annual increments to £600. However, to give him the option of returning to this office at the end of three years, and to allow him in that event to receive the salary to which he would have been entitled had he remained in the Colonial Office.
